Not so for this colourful hostel where cleanliness is as important as having a good time - and that's considered very important.It's a cheery, purpose-built place with an abundance of brightly painted four- and six-bedroom dorms. The latter can feel a bit cramped but not in a suffocating kind of way; you'll just wish you had a bit more space to spread out. There are also a handful of good-sized doubles and twins, and all rooms come with shelving units and fans. The real winners here, however, are the dorms that overlook Queen St; these come with super-size balconies. Another plus point (and there are many here) is the on-site bar: Jack's Spot is laidback and friendly, and serves cheap grog. For those four weeks when Schoolies (Australian school-leavers gathering en masse to party hard) are in town, you need never leave the hostel!
